Hello Designers! As you browse around on SketchBloc you may occasionally encounter StarPoints! After a few run-ins you might wonder: "What are StarPoints?", "How do I earn them?", "What do they do?", and "What should I be aware of?" We've done our best to answer these questions below:

"What are StarPoints?"
StarPoints is the system we implemented to reward users for being active participants in the SketchBloc community. We feel that users who contribute to the community deserves to be recognized and rewarded for their efforts and to encourage other users to to do the same.
"How do I earn them?"
StarPoints are earned in many ways such as commenting, submitting designs, rating other people's designs, updating your status, writing a blog entry, or just uploading a profile picture! Below is a detailed list of all the ways you can earn StarPoints:
User:
Sending an invite to a friend - 4 SP
Invited friend joins SketchBloc - 6 SP
Adding a Profile Picture(one time) - 10 SP
Updating your Status - 5 SP
Responding to other user's Statuses - 2 SP
*Status Updates/Responses are restricted to 10 SP daily.
Content:
Submitting a Design - 4 SP
Submitting a Fashion Photo(Does not need to be approved) - 4 SP
Submitting a Fashion Faux Pas(Have to be logged in, Does not need to be approved) - 4 SP
Posting a Forum Topic - 5 SP
Writing a Blog Entry - 5 SP
Comments:
Comment on Design - 3 SP
Comment on Photography - 3 SP
Comment on Forum - 4 SP
Comments on All Other Content - 2 SP
*Points will be rewarded for each comment up to 3 comments per Design, Photograph, Fashion Faux Pas, etc.
Voting
When you rate a user's content you will be awarded 1 SP and the author of the content will also be given 1 SP
"What do they do?"
Besides being a token of appreciation and recognition from the SketchBloc community StarPoints have a variety of uses.
- Users who earns the most StarPoints each week will be posted on the "Top Contributors List" as recognition for a job well done.
- Users are rewarded with Badges once they accumulate a certain amount of StarPoints, these badges are tiered so the more StarPoints you earn the more higher tier badges you unlock! Later on we will allow users to display their favorite badge in their comments and content posts.
- There are also many subtle ways that StarPoints reward users such as influencing whose design gets featured on the front page, the selection of moderators, the chance to test out new/unreleased features, and more!
- This is a developing process but you can be assured that we will be coming out with more and more ways to reward users through StarPoints so get out there and start contributing!
"What should I be aware of?"
Although we want to encourage community growth and interaction through StarPoints, we also want to make sure that it is not abused. Things like: repeatedly posting the same comment on all content, posting multiple designs/photos/etc with the same content, or any artificial/dishonest manner of accumulating StarPoints are types of behavior can result in the deduction of StarPoints or if continued can cause a user to be Banned. So please be mature and honest in your conduct!
